Resolers are a type of rotating electrical transformer used to measure degrees of rotation. It is considered an analog device and has digital counterpart, such as a digital resolver, a rotary optical or magnetic encoder. The stator has two windings, at right angles, rotor has one winding from which the signal is read. Resolvers used in servo motors are more advanced devices with several output signals.
